M-Net has confirmed the premiere date of the second season of Abomama, with a post confirming that Khanyi Mbau has been replaced by Khabonina Qubeka in her role as Tshidi.
M-Net took to Twitter on Tuesday, 22 June 2021, to confirm the imminent return of the popular Mzansi Magic telenovela, Abomama. The show originally premiered on the channel back in 2018, with a lead cast consisting of Nokuthula Mavuso, Joyce Skefu, Unathi Guma and Khanyi Mbau. However, the return of the show marks a change in the lead cast.
The promotional statement by M-Net stated, “Renowned choreographer, fitness and wellness coach and actress Khabonina Qubeka has joined the cast of Mzansi Magic drama series Abomama, which is set to hit our TV screens for a second season of more turmoil, drama and suspense as Tshidi, Fumane, Mapule and Dora deal with the consequences of their actions.”
Moreover, M-Net teased the premise of the new season, stating, “This season, viewers can expect more thrilling drama as the women try separately to move on with their lives following the murder of Bonanza. But they are forced back together when a naked, young woman mysteriously arrives on the steps of Hope of Glory Church.”
Abomama is set to premiere on Mzansi Magic and Showmax on Sunday, 4 July 2021, at 20:00.
