M-Net confirms the postponement of Survivor SA season eight

South African broadcasting channel, M-Net has confirmed that the eighth season of their highly anticipated show, Survivor SA, will be postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement issue today, 17 April 2020, M-Net explained that, “The eighth season of Survivor South Africa has been postponed indefinitely amid the latest global Covid-19 developments. The safety of the crew, cast and suppliers was the key consideration throughout the detailed assessment and decision-making process.”

The series was expected to premiere in August 2020, with filming also expected to have taken place in the preceding months. Due to the nationwide lockdown, which bans all international travel, cast and crew members were unable to visit possible locations.
