M-Net to premiere true crime docu-series, Strangers You Know

M-Net has announced the upcoming premiere of a locally produced true crime docu-series, Strangers You Know.

M-Net released a statement on Sunday, 6 June 2021, to announce the imminent release of one of the first locally produced true crime docu-series, Strangers You Know. The first season is set to focus on crimes related to the most heinous gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) crimes committed in South Africa. In light of the topicality of the matter, the show aims to provide cautionary tales to educate the public.

According to the statement, “Through heart-wrenching interviews with family members and friends, and the analysis of the lead investigators, forensic pathologists, and prosecutors involved in each case – this true-crime series will take viewers into key moments in each case to uncover how these unsuspecting victims were brutally killed by someone they knew. Strangers You Know will also analyse the overwhelming evidence that perpetrators left behind at the scene of the crime, in what is set to be a series of the most chilling crime stories this winter.”

The show is set to premiere on M-Net, DStv channel 101, on Sunday, 27 June 2021, at 20:00.
