MacG took to social media to boast about having the leading podcast in the country, despite the continuous onslaught from naysayers.
MacGyver “MacG” Mukwevho took to Twitter on Wednesday, 9 June 2021, to boast about having the leading podcast on Apple, Podcast and Chill with MacG. The post served as both a boastful and a celebratory post, in light of the past few months that the podcaster has endured. MacG was once almost a causality of South Africa’s cancel culture.
This was after a Twitter user labelled MacG and co-host, Sol Phenduka, as homophobes for an insensitive slur they made during one of their shows. However, the recent post showcased the support that MacG and his show have from subscribers, despite the controversy. More than that, the virality of the post only increased in light of it trending.
Currently, the podcast sits at over 200 000 subscribers, most of which are believed to have been accumulated in the months following the initial backlash over the insensitive comment directed at the LGBTQI+ community. On Friday, 4 June 2021, the podcaster thanked his subscribers for their continuous support.
