Legendary pop icon Madonna took to social media on Monday, 6 May 2019, to announce her Madame X theatre tour in support of her upcoming album of the same name.
In a cinematic announcement video shared on YouTube and her other social media platforms, Madonna was joined by internationally renowned DJ Diplo to reveal her upcoming theatre tour. The video opens with Diplo, dressed in a cowboy ensemble, as he bangs on the door of Madonna’s hotel room, where she is busy typing on a vintage type writer. With a slight comedic twist and live audience reactions, the songstress reveals to the DJ that she is going on tour. In the video, she states, “I want to have an intimate experience with my fans.” She closes off the video with, “Madame X is going on tour… a theatre tour.”
According to an official press release published on Monday, 6 May 2019, the Madame X theatre tour will commence on Thursday, 12 September 2019, where she is scheduled to play a number of shows at Brooklyn’s BAM Howard Gilman Opera House and various theatres in New York City. She is then scheduled for a residency role at the Chicago Theatre in October 2019, followed by a November residency in Los Angeles’ Wiltern. The press release further states that Madonna is expected to perform shows in Las Vegas, Boston, Miami, and Philadelphia, and will be taking the tour to international stages in 2020, with shows in London, Paris and Portugal.
The tour supports Madonna’s upcoming album Madame X, which is scheduled for release on Friday, 14 June 2019. Specific dates for the upcoming tour are yet to be confirmed, with more tour dates expected to be added in the following months.
