Makhadzi is facing backlash for snubbing King Monada in the Ganama single, following what has been labelled as a PR stunt on social media.
Makhadzi took to Twitter on Wednesday, 7 July 2021, to announce the release of Ganama, featuring Prince Benza. The single was meant to be released on Friday, 2 July 2021, with King Monada as the second contributor. However, on Friday, the single was not released, with no word either on the reason for the delay. When Makhadzi then affirmed the release of the track, fans of the artists were surprised to see that King Monada appeared to have been removed from the song.
Following the release of the song, which confirmed the King Monada snub, Twitter users used the platform to air out their disappointment towards Makhadzi and King Monada. Last week, the two embarked on a social media PR stunt, fueling talk of a supposed feud between them. King Monada claimed the song as his, and Makhadzi subsequently released a video claiming that King Monada stole her song.
The PR stunt went on from Tuesday, 29 June 2021, until Thursday, 1 July 2021, when Makhadzi explained that the video and allegations were a ruse to promote the single. However, following the release of the single without King Monada, speculation on whether Makhadzi was being sincere in her claims that it was a PR stunt has surfaced. Moreover, her releasing the song without King Monada has left her bearing the brunt of Twitter users.
