Makhadzi supports Ghanama, featuring Prince Benza, with music video

Makhadzi has released the Ghanama music video, featuring Prince Benza, which is in support of the contentious song which sparked much conversation upon its release.

Makhadzi took to Instagram on Saturday, 24 July 2021, to announce the release of the Ghanama music video, featuring Prince Benza. The single’s initial release was overshadowed due to the controversial making of the song, which was initially meant to feature the so-called King of Limpopo Music, King Monada. However, when the two could not agree on the crediting rights, the fallout resulted in a public back-and-forth between Makhadzi and King Monada, which led to King Monada being removed from the song.

Therefore, the release of the supporting visuals comes after the drama has subsided. Therefore, fans can now support the single without feeling like they have chosen sides. The Blaqbad-directed music video borrows its premise from the lyrics of the song. Ghanama details how dating is similar to the current pandemic, therefore, it is better to focus on oneself more, like improving one’s socio-economic standing.

The music video is a dream sequence by Makhadzi and Prince Benza, showcasing the lives they would live once they have “made it.” However, the video ends with the two having to face the realities of their normal lives.
