Maps Maponyane and NetFlorist distribute gifts to the needy to commemorate Mandela Day

On Friday, 19 July 2019, Maps Maponyane took to Twitter to thank the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) for contributing to one of his Mandela Day initiatives, at the Ethembeni Children’s Home.

South African media personality, Maps Maponyane, expressed his gratitude towards the NYDA for honouring his invite to be part of the Ethembeni Children’s Home initiative in commemoration of the globally recognised Mandela Day. The NYDA is a South African agency that is aimed at facilitating and promoting coordination in youth development matters.

Maps shared a video from the NYDA page on his Twitter page, thanking them for their commitment to ensuring that the children from the Ethembeni Home will have a safe shelter and will be well taken care of. In sharing the history of the Ethembeni Home, one of the facilitators mentioned that is was established in 1995 and essentially began as a home for children living with HIV/AIDS. Having grown over the years, it now supports children who have been victims of domestic violence as well.

In performing acts of goodwill to honour Mandela Day’s 67 minutes of charity, Maps began with a Net Florist gift packaging initiative that was aimed at packing gifts for the needy, consisting of food and other essentials.

He later posted on his Twitter page that he was headed to Olifantsvlei Primary School in Lenasia, together with the Adopt-a-School Foundation. The programme is aimed at helping to refurbish, rebuild and add new structures to the school.

Maps’ philanthropy work for Mandela Day’s 67 minutes of charity ended with the cake-cutting ceremony at the Ethembeni Children’s Home.
