Maps Maponyane was chosen as one of the South African celebrities to walk for Maxhosa Africa’s New York Fashion Week showcase.

Maps Maponyane showcased his look for Maxhosa Africa’s New York Fashion Week showcase on Instagram on Saturday, 19 September 2020. The prestigious fashion show was broadcast to an international audience on Wednesday, 16 September 2020, as Maps, along with other South African celebrities, served as the models.

The visual showed Maps wearing a turquoise and red African print overcoat, which formed a deep V on the neckline. He accessorised with a red beaded neckpiece, which covered his exposed chest, whilst donning a matching bucket hat.

The collection, by Laduma Ngxokolo, is entitled Ingumangaliso Imisebenzi KaThixo/God’s Work Is Miraculous, and serves as the brand’s summer 2021 offering. The pieces showed in the fashion show all had the designer’s signature avant-garde African tribal theme, which also incorporated vibrant colours and excessive jewellery.
