Mary Twala, the now late veteran actress, forms part of the stellar cast of Black Is King, which premieres on M-Net on Saturday, 1 August 2020.
Mary Twala’s son, Somizi Mhlongo, confirmed in a tweet on Thursday, 30 July 2020, that his mother’s last performance was in the highly anticipated Beyoncé Knowles Carter film, Black Is King. He stated, “My [mother’s] last gig. [I’m a] super proud son.” The critically acclaimed actress passed away on Saturday, 4 July 2020, at the age of 80, making her role in the upcoming movie her last on-screen performance.
The production, which was developed by internationally acclaimed singer and actress, Beyoncé Knowles Carter, brings together a stellar cast of creatives from across the globe. Some of the other South African actors featured in the film are; Connie Chiume, Nandi Madida, Nyaniso Dzedze and Warren Masemola,
