McDonald and Dodds season 3 was released on BritBox on Tuesday, 16 August 2022, following its premiere television run on ITV.
With a slew of popular English crime dramas, McDonald and Dodds has created a particular niche as it is comical and features not-so-gruesome murders that need to be resolved.
All the while, viewers are captivated by the growing relationship between DS Dodds and DCI Lauren McDonald, and how they solve the crime of the city and surroundings of Bath, England.
Currently, the series has a total of 3 seasons. UK fans enjoyed a four-episode third season which premiered in June 2022 on ITV.

However, the season’s popularity resulted in it being commissioned for a second season and thereafter, a third.

When season 3 premiered on Sunday, 19 June 2022 on ITV for its UK audience, it did so with four episodes in the entire season and it ended on Sunday, 10 July 2022. However, this was not the case for its US audience, who watched season 2 and 2 on BritBox.
This is as when season 2 of the series was made available on BritBox, it consisted of a total of four episodes, but the season 2 television run on ITV only had 3 episodes, which did not include the season finale.
As such, when McDonald and Dodds arrived on BritBox with its season 3 on Tuesday, 16 August 2022, it had a total of 3 episodes.
Each of the episodes of season 3 followed the same plot as previous seasons. This is as each episode focused on an insular murder which DCI McDonald and DS Dodds had to solve by working together.
In season 3, the highest rated episode on IMDb was episode 2, titled “The War of Rose”, which has earned 8.2 out 10 from viewer ratings.

McDonald and Dodds season 3: Episode 1
The first episode of season 3 is titled “A Billion Beats”. The premise of the episode sees McDonald and Dodds learning about the world of Formula 1.
This is because they have to investigate the murder of a Formula 1 driver. The detectives are tasked with the case after the murder was reported by the famed motorsports dynasty, the Addington family.
The case is then further complicated by the fact that McDonald and her passion for Formula 1, where she will need to maintain her professionalism with her interest in the sports.
McDonald and Dodds season 3: Episode 2
Episode 2 of season 3 of McDonalds and Dodds was titled “The War of Rose”, and it is currently the highest rated episode from the series on IMDb.
The reason for this is that the episode incorporated the influence of social media. This is as the premise of the episode is that a social media influencer wants to have surgery from a clinic that is run by a couple that is soon to get divorced.
Tragedy strikes when the influencer dies, and McDonald and Dodds are tasked with investigating who the culprit is between the 2 in the couple, along with the clinic staff.
McDonald and Dodds season 3: Episode 3
Concluding season 3 was an episode titled “Clouds Across the Moon”. This episode mixes mysticism with Dodds focusing on the fact that on the day of the murder, it was on All Soul’s Day. McDonald, on the other hand, does not take superstition as seriously as her partner does.
The duo is tasked with investigating the bizarre murder of a successful businessman who was found in a shallow grave close to Glastonbury Tor.
