Menzi Ngubane’s death has left the television industry in shock, as many of his colleagues, such as Sonia Mbele, Thapelo Mokoena and Candice Modiselle, have come forward with tributes to the late actor.
Menzi Ngubane passed away on Saturday, 13 March 2021, after reportedly succumbing to a stroke. The veteran actor, who battled with health issues for a lengthy period of time, had spoken openly about his kidney disease, which previously led to him taking time off acting on numerous occasions. A family spokesperson shared an image of the actor on his personal Instagram account, captioning it, “A giant has fallen.”
The actor was best known for his roles as Sibusiso Dhlomo on SABC 1’s Generations and Judas Ngwenya on Mzansi Magic’s Isibaya. Tributes have poured in for Menzi from his thousands of fans, many of whom were evidently shocked by the news of his death. His industry colleagues have also expressed their heartbreak, with Sonia Mbele stating, “I’ve been quiet because I’ve been processing. I’m still battling! Ours was a love story crafted in television land, and you’ll forever remain Ntombi’s soulmate.” Thapelo Mokoena tweeted, “My brother, KZN has a treasure in you. I respect everything you’ve done for our people. Rest in Peace Big Man.”
