Producer-DJ duo, MFR Souls, have released their second EP, The Beginning, which is a follow up to their 2015 four-track EP, Bless The Souls.
On Friday, 8 November 2019, popular deep house musicians, MFR Souls, released their sophomore EP, The Beginning. The EP boasts nine tracks but has a running time of close to an hour. The DJs’ first single, which was a hit with the public was the song, Love You Tonight featuring vocalist, Sha Sha and amapiano influencers, Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, known collectively as the Scorpion Kings.
The song saw the deep house DJs embrace the live instrumentation of the amapiano sound and implement it into the overall sound of their new offering. The EP has a host of features on eight of the nine tracks on the album.
Some of the mentionable featured artists on the album include Sipho Magudulela on the first track, Promises; Khanya Greens on Indlela, The Squad on Lalela, Sia Music on Myekele, returning feature, Sipho Magudulela on the song, Harvard, with fellow vocalist, Moscow; and Thabzin Bibo and MDR on track eight, called Ngemali. The duo also remixed popular single, Ngaqonywa, by new wave maskandi artist, Aubrey Qwana and DJ Tira. The last song on the album, Dust, is the only song with no featured artists.
Since releasing the EP, the duo’s fans have taken to social media to commend them on the body of work. One social media took to Twitter and stated, “Wow this one? It bangs! Oh my gosh, Love You Tonight is that song!” Another fan of the duo stated, “MFR Souls never disappoints when it comes to dropping hits.”
