Mihlali Ndamase has become one of South Africa’s most prominent beauty bloggers, as she has been able to create and master trends mimicked by many of her followers.
Mihlali Ndamase has been known to refute popular makeup industry myths, including the belief that the more expensive a product is, the better it is. She often uses a mix of high-end and affordable beauty brands, and sometimes uses techniques which have previously been frowned upon by makeup experts. Specifically, she has broken the myth about red lipstick. She has proven that a red lip can be used with any other colour and is not exclusive to an evening or sultry ensemble.
Most recently, on Saturday, 18 July 2020, the influencer shared a makeup tutorial which used a bold red lip with black hair for a casual look, despite many regarding the combination as gothic or dark. For a daytime outfit, Mihlali added a red lip with platinum blond hair and a white blouse, and has even paired traditional garb with the pop of colour.
