Minnie Dlamini-Jones revealed the Beyoncé-inspired look she wore for the music icon’s fortieth birthday celebration, which was organised by her best friend, Azola Mona.
Minnie Dlamini-Jones took to Twitter on Tuesday, 7 September 2021, to share a series of images where she was dressed in a look inspired by Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. Dlamini-Jones is close friends with Anele Mdoda and Unathi Nkayi, and they are all die-hard fans of Beyoncé. Therefore, it was no surprise when she explained the purpose of her look through captioning her post, “So Azola Mona decided that we all get together to celebrate Beyoncé’s 40th birthday. We all had to recreate one of her iconic looks and I went with Bootylicious.”
Dlamini-Jones was referring to the pink look Beyoncé wore in the Bootylicious music video, which premiered back in 2001. The outfit showcased the star’s toned abs. This is despite Dlamini-Jones having welcomed her first child, Netha Makhosini Jones, with husband, Quinton Jones, back in November 2020. Moreover, in the latest image she shared on Wednesday, 8 September 2021, Dlamini-Jones revealed that her outfit, which was designed by Jessica Jane, also showcased her famous posterior.
A fun fact which Dlamini-Jones also shared was that the themed party also ran a competition for the best look. The former Live AMP presenter came in second place for her look. First place went to her friend, Thandile Mbana. Mbana replicated Beyoncé’s silver 1980s disco-inspired look that she wore during her 2007 Get Me Bodied music video.
Other attendees of the party were inspired by Beyoncé’s Flawless music video look, her monochromatic look from the 2018 Global Citizen performance in South Africa, her Homecoming look, and her Crazy In Love daisy dukes and white tank top look.
