Nadia Nakai amongst those raising awareness on unrest in Zimbabwe

Published on

Nadia Nakai has joined the slew of South African public personalities who are raising awareness on the current unrest in Zimbabwe, following shortly after AKA and Zakes Bantwini.

Nadia Nakai joined the many social media users who are speaking out about the current socio-political climate in Zimbabwe on Monday, 3 August 2020. The public support from South Africans has seen the likes of AKA, Zakes Bantwini and Kim Jayde also seeking to raise awareness on the matter. In the past, Nadia Nakai has shared that she identifies as a dual citizen of South Africa and Zimbabwe because of her roots.

In a show of tradition and solidarity for the people of Zimbabwe, the rapper quoted a Shona proverb which was translated and explained by another Twitter user. According to the user, the proverb means, “The wages of evil may not come immediately, but the [consequences] will come.”

Instead of sharing the commonly used image to showcase solidarity, Nadia Nakai used a chilling image of a child being silenced.
