Natasha Thahane has confirmed that she will be part of Blood & Water season three, revealing that she was shooting while pregnant with her first child.
Blood & Water currently stands as the longest-running South African and African original drama series, after confirming the upcoming release of its third season. The confirmation post of season three also revealed the return of most of the main cast.
But fans were wondering whether Natasha Thahane, who played Wendy Gumede, would return to the series as well, since the star was pregnant when the announcement was made. But according to Thahane’s latest Instagram post, she is set to reprise her role.
Is Blood & Water season three confirmed?
Blood & Water season three was confirmed by Netflix in April 2021 with a post on social media. The caption read in part, “Mzansi’s coolest kids are back!”
The post confirmed the return of most of the main cast including Ama Qamata, Khosi Ngema, Thabang Molaba, Dillon Windvogel, and Arno Greeff.
Natasha Thahane confirms return to Blood & Water season three
On Tuesday, 17 May 2022, Natasha Thahane took to Instagram to confirm that she will be returning to reprise her role as know-it-all, Wendy Gumede in the third season of the hit series.
Moreover, her social media stories also revealed that she had already been filming with the cast and crew, and merely went on maternity leave as she was expecting her child.
When Thahane revealed that she was expecting her child, allegedly with soccer player Thembinkosi Lorch, she shared an image of her visible baby bump on the Blood & Water set.
In the photo, she blocked the name of the character she was playing, however, after revealing her return, she confirmed that she was working on the series since she made her pregnancy announcement in March 2022.
When is Blood & Water season three expected?
Currently, there is no confirmed release date for Blood & Water season three, as the season is still in production.
Although, considering that season two was released in September 2021, it is safe to presume a spring/summer 2022 release, as there are no delays like there were between season one and two caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
How did Blood & Water season two end?
Blood & Water season two ended with a cliffhanger, as we found out more details about how Fikile’s adaptation and abduction was orchestrated by KB’s mother, Lisbeth Molapo.
Moreover, we finally got to see Lisbeth, played by Sonia Mbele, as she broke her accomplice, Nwabisa Bhele, out of prison to protect her secret. The season ends with Lisbeth looking to exact her revenge on Puleng for revealing her secret and her identity.
What can we expect from Blood & Water season three?
Nothing has been confirmed regarding the premise of the third season of Blood & Water, but Thabang Molaba did tease his trajectory in season three in an interview with JustNje, explaining:
“Personally, I’d say for me, season two was more of a build-up for us to see KB’s world properly. I don’t think there was anything new in terms of KB and what we see in season two. It was pretty much the world we saw in season one, and basically building it up for what we will see in season three.”
