Netflix has none of the two Doctor Who series, as the latest adaptation is currently available on HBO Max.

Doctor Who has two different adaptations. The original series had an over 26-year run, as it aired from 1963 until 1989. According to IMDb, the series is about “the adventures in time and space of the Doctor, a Time Lord who changes appearance and personality by regenerating when near death, and is joined by companions in battles against aliens and other megalomaniacs.” Moreover, the series was fronted by legendary actor, William Hartnell as Doctor Who.

The latest adaptation of the original series is based on the same premise of Doctor Who’s adventures through time and space. However, in the lead role is female actor, Jodie Whittaker in the role of Doctor Who, as she follows the Thirteenth Doctor, previously referred to as the Time Lord. The latest adaptation has been running for over 16 years, having premiered in 2005.

As Netflix has become the go-to streaming platform, more so, in light of the platform continually announcing hosting past hit shows like Girlfriends, Moesha, Sister Sister and The Parkers. There were questions on whether the platform features Doctor Who. The simple answer is no.

The current adaptation on television airs on BBC One. Therefore, the series is available to view on HBO Max. The newly created streaming platform has all the seasons of the adaptation of Doctor Who available to viewers. Therefore, for avid fans of the show, it is recommended that you get a subscription with the platform in order to view the series. However, if you are looking to watch Hartnell’s original version of the series, that would be difficult as it is currently not available on any video on-demand streaming platform.
