Netflix SA has released the preview of the upcoming dance-focused series, JIVA!, which is set to premiere in late June.
Netflix South Africa (SA) took to Twitter on Monday, 24 May 2021, to release the preview of its upcoming series, JIVA!. The show has been in the works for the past two years, with the details thereof having been kept under wraps. Initially, it was believed to be a docu-series meant to celebrate the different dance cultures in the country, however, with the release of its official preview, the story has been confirmed as fictional.
According to a statement issued on Monday, 24 May 2021, “The show follows Ntombi (Noxolo Dlamini), an ambitious, but frustrated young dancer from Umlazi, Durban who wants to ditch her dead-end job, fetch her nice life, and get out of her rut and into the spotlight. On her journey to get there, she forms a dance group called the Trollies, made up of four very different but very talented women played by Candice Modiselle (Vuyiswa), Sne Mbatha (Zinhle) Stella Dlangalala (Lady E) and Zazi Kunene (Nolwazi).”
Moreover, the choreography of the show has been credited to Bontle Modiselle and Tom London of Soweto’s Finest fame. The series is set to premiere on Netflix on Thursday, 24 June 2021.
