Netflix has shared the preview of its upcoming docu-series, Penguin Town, which was shot in Simons Town and is based on African penguins.
Netflix South Africa (SA) took to Twitter on Tuesday, 1 June 2021, to share the preview of its upcoming docu-series, Penguin Town. The docu-series is centred on the mating season of the African penguin, which descends to Simons Town in Cape Town every summer. The birds are endangered and the docu-series aims to showcase how they have been given special treatment in the town, in an effort to preserve their existence.
The preview revealed that the docu-series will be led by a voice-of-god narrator who contextualises the images and visuals. Moreover, instead of taking a grave tone or telling the story through a National Geographic style of narration, it seems that the docu-series will take a more light-hearted and humorous approach in telling the story of the endangered African penguins. The docu-series is set to premiere on Netflix on Wednesday, 16 June 2021.
