Afrikaans broadcaster, Netwerk24, have announced its first ever online soapie drama, which will star well-known South African television host, Nico Panagio.
In a statement issued by DStv today, 30 July 2019, the drama series will centre around a wealthy family who is torn apart by the sudden death of the patriarch. The family, comprising of an ambitious older brother, a peacemaker sister and a rebellious younger brother, will come together to discover what has been left for them in their father’s will, causing a range of issues to arise. The drama series, Die Testament, will star Nico Panagio, Rolanda Marais, Andahr Cotton, Sandra Prinsloo and Amrain Ismail-Essop.
Henriëtte Loubser, editor of Netwerk24, stated, “The huge amount of television and video material available online makes viewing choices almost harder. We wanted to make it easier and more enjoyable for Afrikaans audiences – here is an entertaining five-minute story every weekday that you can just watch while you wait for the kettle to cook or when you wait for the kids at the rugby practice. And with big names on our actor roles like Rolanda Marais and Nico Panagio, who can resist?”.
Loubser further elaborated, “More and more people are starting to stream TV entertainment and it just makes sense that we will also offer it as part of our package.” The series will consist of five-minute episodes which will be broadcast on Netwerk24’s online channels from September to November 2019. The show will air every weekday during the three months.
