Ntsiki Mazwai apologises for casting doubt on Lady Zamar’s allegations against Sjava

Ntsiki Mazwai has publicly apologised for casting doubt on Lady Zamar’s abuse allegations against ex-boyfriend, Sjava, in a tweet from June 2020.

Ntsiki Mazwai offered a public apology for her dismissive tweet about Lady Zamar on Sunday, 19 July 2020. In early June 2020, Ntsiki took to Twitter to use Lady Zamar as an example of women who supposedly lie about being raped, following Lady Zamar’s claims against Sjava.

She stated, “Guys, if Lady Zamar lied about rape, then what is the way forward?” Her tweet received major backlash, with many claiming that she is supporting Sjava because he is a celebrity and is disregarding the allegations because of who he is.

In her recent tweet, Ntsiki acknowledged the impact of her tweet, as it opposed the attempts to try and end gender-based violence in South Africa. She stated, “I apologise for the hurt I caused and realise that this is how famous rapists get away. When we don’t question them.”
