Ntsiki Mazwai took onus for her hasty judgmental post, which aimed to suggest that Priddy Ugly is on the receiving end of male privilege.
Ntsiki Mazwai took to Twitter on Tuesday, 10 August 2021, to comment on a post shared by Priddy Ugly from Wednesday, 4 August 2021. The video was Priddy Ugly’s continued promotional campaign for his hit lead single, Handful of Dust. In the video, Priddy Ugly begins rapping after burning sage, which he uses as a prop in the video. Mazwai seemingly did not watch the video, as she believed that the sage was a joint.
Mazwai, who is a proud consumer of cannabis, critiqued the reception of the video by writing, “Male privilege is nice… Thina (Us) they call us names for smoking.” Mazwai initially faced backlash from Twitter users that highlighted that it was sage and not rolled cannabis. Moreover, she was ridiculed for clearly having not watched the video and then making a sweeping statement.
Twitter users commended Priddy Ugly for his diplomatic response. Unlike past responses that Mazwai has received from media personalities, Priddy Ugly not only acknowledged her sentiments, but respectfully corrected Mazwai. This could be the reason that Mazwai somewhat acknowledged her mistake instead of blocking the rapper.
