Ntsiki Mazwai has returned to releasing new music through her feature on DJ C-Live’s Hey Black Girl, alongside DJ Respect.
Ntsiki Mazwai took to Instagram on Friday, 6 August 2021, to confirm the release of the DJ C-Live-fronted single, Hey Black Girl, featuring herself and DJ Respect. The single was released specifically in line with August being observed as Women’s Month in the country. Hence the single is touted as an affirmation poem on an amapiano instrumental. Moreover, the aforementioned objective is also the reason that DJ C-Live enlisted the help of a female DJ, Respect on the single.
Lyrically, Mazwai celebrates and affirms women with curvy and voluptuous bodies. Mazwai has been a victim of body shaming herself, therefore, the single is not only an affirmation for other women, but functions as a self-fulfilling chant that her body is valid and beautiful. Following the release of the single, Mazwai took to Twitter to thank DJ C-Live for the collaboration, writing, “Eish, my friend spoke so well of me this morning. It’s so nice to work with people who actually understand and appreciate you for you. I’m feeling so blessed.”
The single is available for purchase on Apple Music.
