Ntsiki Mazwai takes critique from Malaika Mahlatsi personally

Published on

Ntsiki Mazwai went on a Twitter rant after reading an article by Malaika Wa Azania, lambasting her politics and constant badgering of popular media personalities.

Ntsiki Mazwai took to Twitter on Wednesday, 9 June 2021, to vent after reading a critical opinion piece on her politics and continued lambasting of popular media personalities. The piece was written by fellow pan-Africanist, political commentator and writer, Malaika Mahlatsi. In the piece, Wa Azania did not spare Mazwai’s feelings as she probed her political stance and recent lambaste of DJ Zinhle.

The poet had suggested that people should not glamourise or look up to media personalities selling alcohol and hair. Moreover, she compared the purchasing of wigs and extensions to that of substance abuse. Mahlatsi referred to these comparisons, among others, as a “bizarre kind of ‘radicalism’ that aims to shock, insult and offend.”

Mazwai promptly responded, “It’s a pity Malaika Wa Azania is playing with [local media] to bully me because I’ve been outspoken about the Nampree case. That’s the thing, women can be used to take down women. Malaika is a political h*e who is a belly politician. She must keep my name out her mouth.”

She then continued lambasting Mahlatsi, going as far as threatening karma to those that have wronged her.
