OM Films has confirmed the production of an SABC 1 drama series, Hush Money, starring Dumisani Mbebe and Vuyelwa Mpela in the lead roles.

OM Films took to Twitter on Sunday, 19 September 2021, to confirm the then imminent premiere of SABC 1’s new drama series, Hush Money. OM Films is one of the leading local Black-owned production houses. Fronted by acclaimed director and producer, Ofentse “Uncle Scrooch” Mwase, the production of Hush Money marks one of the first television series to be produced by the production company that is best known for its YouTube-based content, music videos and commercial productions.

According to lead actor, Dumisani Mbebe, “The story is basically about money buying you everything. My son in the story happens to be involved in a hit and run and he decides, ‘I’m going to ask dad to go and see this family of the victim and pay them hush money so that this does not get tackled by the law.’”

Moreover, the conflict between the Dukashe family and the impoverished Buthelezi family will seemingly be the main arch of the story. Vuyiswa Mpela, of 7de Laan fame, and Mpho Sebeng also star in the production and round up of the Dukashe family. The show is set to be a six-part series that airs on Sundays on SABC 1 at 19:30.
