Oprah Winfrey marks first “in-person” but socially distanced interview with Barack Obama

Published on

Oprah Winfrey has released the latest episode of Oprah’s Book Club, which features former US President, Barack Obama, and marks her first “in-person” but socially distanced interview.

Oprah Winfrey took to Instagram on Tuesday, 17 November 2020, to confirm the availability of the latest episode of Oprah’s Book Club. The episode is a sit-down interview with former President of the United States (US), Barack Obama, and sees him speaking about his new memoir, A Promised Land.

Surprisingly, the two were not in the same room for the interview, despite it looking that way on camera. The technology used is set to change the talk show industry forever, as it was first introduced in the first episode of Drew Barrymore’s new talk show.

For her first episode, Drew enlisted her Charlie’s Angels co-stars, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu, as guests. During their sit-down interview, Drew revealed that Cameron was actually not physically present. In her latest interview, Oprah utilised the same technology to provide a viewing experience that feels like a one-on-one conversation in person, but is actually not.
