Pearl Thusi took to Instagram to share a video of her youngest daughter, Okuhlekonke, dancing on Wednesday, 12 August 2020. In the video, Okuhlekonke danced alongside her cousin, Kiki, while Beyoncé’s Brown Skin Girl, featuring Wizkid and Saint Jhn, played in the background. The song was also the reason for the backlash Pearl faced last week, as many claimed she does not embody the essence of it as a light-skinned woman.
Pearl’s fair complexion earned her unfavourable comments when she referred to herself as a “brown skin girl.” However, social media users agreed that the song is fitting for her young daughter, and were touched by the caption to the post. The song appears to be a favourite for Okuhlekonke, who was documented singing it on Pearl’s Instagram Stories.
