Pearl Thusi is amongst the many people who are disappointed at Netflix’s cancellation of Queen Sono, and has committed to signing the petition for the renewal of the series.

Pearl Thusi has openly expressed her disappointment regarding the cancellation of Netflix’s Queen Sono, in which she starred as the lead. Since the announcement, the actress has been inundated with queries about Netflix’s decision to cancel the show, and she has remained adamant that the decision was out of her control.

Taking to Twitter on Monday, 18 January 2021, Pearl entertained the conversation that was underway, which included discussions on a petition to have Queen Sono renewed for its second season. In response to a fan who asked if the show had been cancelled, she stated, “It has … but someone started a petition to bring it back yesterday.” Thereafter, Pearl shared the link to the petition, and also confirmed that she will sign it.

In a statement from Netflix in November 2020, Pearl expressed her feelings on the cancellation, stating, “It’s so incredible that we, as a team, got a lifetime opportunity to make history together as there will never be another ‘first’ African Netflix original series. I’m proud of the work we did, but everything happens for a reason. I am excited about what the future holds.”
