Pearl Thusi references contentious Brown Skin Girl post

Pearl Thusi has used a recent interview clip of Beyoncé Knowles-Carter speaking about the inspiration of Brown Skin Girl, featuring Wizkid and SAINt JHN, to vindicate her previous contentious post.

Pearl Thusi took to Twitter to subliminally address the criticism she received for her contentious Brown Skin Girl post on Tuesday, 25 August 2020. The initial post was shared on Tuesday, 4 August 2020, and featured her in a bikini. Pearl captioned the image by describing herself as a “brown skin girl,” and quoted Beyoncé’s hit single of the same name. Pearl faced backlash because of her fair complexion, with many suggesting that she does not embody the essence of the song.

Despite the criticism, the Queen Sono lead actress remained steadfast in her initial sentiments, as she quoted the song in another post. Pearl has been vindicated by the release of the song’s official music video on Monday, 24 August 2020. Speaking about the inspiration of the single, Beyoncé stated, “It was so important to me that in Brown Skin Girl, we represented all shades of brown.”
