pH Raw X released the music video for his 2019 debut single, Ibeballinho, featuring Xitsonga music sensation, Sho Madjozi, on Friday, 6 September 2019.
Limpopo-born rapper and producer, pH Raw X, has released the music video for his lead single for 2019, Ibeballinho. The single was released on Friday, 19 July 2019, and marked one of the first songs where Sho Madjozi further affirmed that she is a rapper, using her now popular verse on the single.
The first mention of the music video’s release was on Thursday, 5 September 2019, when pH Raw X posted the first snippet across his social media pages. The music video, directed by the acclaimed Kyle White, does not have a beginning to end narrative, but is a sequence of shots that are situational.
It starts with shots taken as pH Raw X raps his opening verse in a basketball court. Following this shot, Sho Madjozi arrives to fetch pH Raw X from a derelict building in Diepkloof, Soweto, and the artists drive into the streets of the Soweto Township. In the background of multiple shots of the car ride, the famous twin towers make a feature in the music video.
Following the release of the music video, a fan of the artist thanked pH Raw X for using his township as the music video’s backdrop. In the heartfelt message, the follower wrote, “Ay man, [thank you] for visiting my [neighbour]hood, Soweto for the visuals [of] #Ibeballinho! [The visuals look] crisp!”
