Please Step In: A young woman battles to find her rightful place in her boyfriend’s home

Tuesday night’s episode of Please Step In saw Thokozile detail the turbulent relationship between herself and her niece, whom she adopted after her mother failed to care for her.

The latest episode of Mzansi Magic’s Please Step In, which aired on Tuesday, 13 August 2019, saw Thokozile seeking an intervention between her and her husband’s niece, Maria, whom they adopted after her biological mother failed to care for her. The episode showed her emotionally detailing their troubled relationship, with her stating that communication and the mishandling of emotions is what caused the friction between them. Host, Angie Diale, tried to reason with Maria, and came to the conclusion that her behavioural issues were caused by the abandonment she felt from her mother.

Viewers shared their frustration with Angie Diale, with many stating that her treatment towards Thokozile was unwarranted. Bongani shared a tweet which stated, “They must redo this episode and make Angie apologise to the foster mother and family. They took in an orphaned and troubled child and helped her, yet she disrespected them, and they get blamed for the child’s misdemeanour. Angie humiliated that mother.” Phillie Mshibe agreed, saying, “Today’s episode was annoying. It’s like the aunt was being reprimanded for all her genuine efforts.”

Please Step In issued an update on the current state of the relationship between Thokozile and Maria, stating, “According to Thokozile, Maria is unhappy with the family and has not changed. The family has taken a decision for her to find a new place. “

Please Step In airs Tuesdays at 20:00 on Mzansi Magic, DStv Channel 161.
