Local DJ and music producer, Kabelo Motsamai, better known as Prince Kaybee, is South Africa’s first DJ to reach seven million views on YouTube, in only 3 months.
Prince Kaybee has made history with his hit single titled Banomoya, featuring Eastern Cape-born kwaito and Gqom singer, Busiswa Gqulu, also known as Kalawa Chikita.
The collaboration that also features house music duo TNS, was released on Friday, 31 August, 2018.
The Banomoya music video was released on Thursday, 4 October 2018, and reached seven million views three months later, which is a first for a South African DJ.
Banomoya became the 2018 summer track to play across radio stations in the country, and was also named Ukhozi FM and Metro FM’s 2018 Song of the Year, crossing over into the New Year, 2019.
The Free State-bred DJ rose to fame when he won the second season of the SABC1 reality competition, 1’s and 2’s, in 2015.
On Friday, 7 April 2017, he revealed to the public that he started his own record label named, Low Key Records. Prince Kaybee has since his debut collaborated with some of the country’s top music artists.
The Wajelwa hit-maker recently gave his fans a snippet of the his latest album with his single, Fetch Your Life, featuring local singer and songwriter, Msaki, but his third studio will only be released, in February 2019.
