Phaṱhu Makwarela has confirmed the imminent premiere date of Giyani: Land of Blood season two, along with confirming the casting of veteran, Rami Chuene.
Phaṱhu Makwarela took to Twitter on Saturday, 9 October 2021, to confirm the premiere date of the second season of SABC 2’s Giyani: Land of Blood. The popular telenovela, which first aired on SABC 2 in 2020 for its first season, has seemingly changed hands in terms of the production team. Season one of the first XiTsonga telenovela in South Africa was produced by Muvhango’s production house, Word of Mouth.
However, since Makwarela has shared that he was working on finalising the script for the second season of the show, it seems that the production has been commissioned to Tshedza Pictures. The production house is behind some of the most popular telenovelas airing on television right now, such as 1Magic’s The River and M-Net’s Legacy.
Besides announcing that Giyani: Land of Blood is set to return to SABC 2 on Monday, 1 November 2021, Makwarela also confirmed that seasoned actress, Rami Chuene is set to join the cast in a lead supporting role. No further details have been shared yet on the new character.
