SABC 1’s Live AMP set to return for series finale

SABC 1 simultaneously confirmed the return and end of its flagship show, Live AMP, which has been on air since the early 2000s.

SABC 1 took to Twitter on Thursday, 8 July 2021, to confirm the return of its flagship music show, Live AMP. The show is set to return with its regular co-hosts, Lamiez Holworthy and Speedsta. The two will return for the series finale which has been dubbed “The Last Dance.” This is as the upcoming season marks an end of the show, which was originally named Live.

News of the show’s cancellation was reported earlier in the week, which led to Bonang Matheba’s name trending. Loyal viewers of the show commented that they believe that the show should have ended when Matheba left back in 2012. However, it seems that despite the news of the show finale trending on social media, Speedsta was unaware of the end of the show.

He referred to the circulated post on Thursday, reporting on the show’s cancellation, and wrote, “Damn! You really couldn’t wait for this one hey? To tell you the truth, I was waiting for a Phil Mphela update about 1’s & 2’s earlier in the year. Even tweeted you. All good. Yeah, we cancelled and outdated, G.”

The show is set to return to screens on Friday, 9 July 2021, on SABC 1 at 19:30.
