SABC 3 has given viewers more detail about the upcoming telenovela, The Estate, by sharing information on the background of the Mokobane family, who form an integral part of the storyline.
SABC 3 took to Instagram on Friday, 26 February 2021, to share a preview of the upcoming drama series, The Estate. The weeknight telenovela is set to premiere on Monday, 5 April 2021, and will showcase the hidden politics of building the new development, Echelon Estate, which is being built on the land of long-term low-income South Africans. The clip introduced the audience to Don Mlangeni’s character, Shadrack Mokobane, a groundsman, and his wife, Mmatshepo Mokobane, a domestic worker for the Phakathwayos, played by Clementine Mosimane.
The Estate will see the Mokobanes being part of the casualties of the 1913 Land Act, as they prepare to reveal a secret that is expected to bring the developers of Echelon Estate to their mercy. The channel stated, “Will Shadrack’s son, law graduate, Dumisani, fight for his father’s honour and the people of Thembalethu when the truth refuses to stay buried?”
