Samthing Soweto gears up for upcoming show at Joburg Theatre

South African singer Samkelo Mdolomba, also known as Samthing Soweto, will be performing at the Joburg Theatre on two consecutive nights.

The Sowetan music artist has two dates set to perform for his fans, one on Friday, 22 February 2019, and the following day, Saturday, 23 February 2019. The official Joburg Theatre Twitter page posted a video on Tuesday, 12 February 2019, of the singer rehearsing for the upcoming shows.

In a Facebook post about the upcoming event, he wrote “I know you’re waiting for an album, it’s coming and I can’t wait for you to hear it! For now, join me for an evening of music”.

Samthing Soweto is a former member of the local award-winning acapella group The Soil. He started singing for the popular group at the age of 17 and departed after six years to pursue a solo career. As soon as he went on his own journey, he began releasing EPs and collaborating with the likes of house music DJ and producer Mobi Dixon and popular DJ Black Coffee.

He is also well-known for his collaboration with Sun-El Musician on the hit song Akanamali which won them three South Africa Music Awards (SAMAs) in 2018, under the categories Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) Highest Airplay Composer’s award, South African Music Performance Rights Association (SAMPRA) Highest Airplay Song of the Year and Best Collaboration.
