Shane Eagle will be taking his Yellow Tour to Bloemfontein on Tuesday, 23 October 2018.
Rapper Shane Eagle released his debut album, Yellow, on 31 August 2017. The album was awarded the Best Hip-Hop Album at the South African Music Awards in June of this year. Eagle has been touring Yellow throughout 2018, recently performing in Cape Town and Durban to massive crowds. Now, Eagle’s fans from Bloemfontein have requested that he visit their province for a performance.
On Tuesday, 2 October 2018, Eagle announced on social media that he has in fact added Bloemfontein as a pit stop on the Yellow Tour. “The people have spoken we have just added a [Bloemfontein] date, 23rd November at BOHO!” he wrote.
In a recent interview with East Coast Radio, Eagle spoke about his journey into the music business, his musical influences and his views on how depression in young people is so often swept under the carpet.
Eagle began his career as a presenter on VUZU Hustle and V Entertainment. He explained in the interview that presenting was merely a ‘stepping stone’ into the music industry and that he is unlikely to return to that line of work. When asked what kind of music he listened to as a child, he cited Erykah Badu and Jill Scott as early musical influences.
To close out the interview, Eagle spoke about his views on depression. He said that young people’s burdens are often dismissed, and that although he does not feel that he has suffered from depression personally, he does have a different perspective on the subject, being a young person of mixed race.
