Shimza accuses Minister Nathi Mthethwa of ignoring his proposal

Shimza has publicly lambasted Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa for allegedly ignoring his proposal, which aimed to offer an intervention for those in the entertainment industry.

Shimza shared a Twitter thread on Monday, 14 December 2020, in which he called out Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa for allegedly failing to engage in a constructive discussion regarding the entertainment industry. According to the acclaimed musician, he had sent through a proposal that offered solutions to large crowds at concerts and shows. Shimza claimed that he had proposed a larger sponsorship budget for musicians, to enable them to orchestrate television performances instead of live ones.

Shimza explained that his proposal would have led to job opportunities for many more people, and would have helped avoid the unwanted mass gatherings, especially during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. “Submitted a proposal to Minister Nathi Mthethwa for us to be able to afford to continue with events on TV, so we could continue paying artists and people in the technical space and got no response. Now we [are] out scrapping for work, people are gathering and the virus is spreading.”
