Showmax has announced the imminent release of a documentary set to reflect on the country’s lockdown strategy, titled United Apart.
Showmax took to Twitter on Wednesday, 1 September 2021, to announce the upcoming documentary, United Apart. The documentary is set to take a deep dive into the inception and implementation of the lockdown strategy in South Africa. Nearly two years since the decree of National Disaster was placed on the country, which informed and continues to inform the current implementation of lockdown restrictions and regulations, South Africa is one of the few countries that has not completely lifted lockdown regulations.
The shared promotional post did not detail the time frame in which the focus of the documentary is set to focus on. However, the teaser did suggest that the focus will be on COVID-19 locally and the immediate reactions on the matter. Thereafter, the documentary seems aimed at focusing on the first few months of the lockdown, specifically the matter of the alcohol ban and how the ban has affected the lives of South Africans. Moreover, the teaser revealed that the contributors will also speak to the effectiveness of the restrictions and regulations, as time and the world moves forward.
United Apart is set to premiere on Showmax on Thursday, 9 September 2021.
