Showmax has confirmed the commencement of filming for its new reality series, Uthando Lodumo, starring one of South Africa’s most controversial couples, Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha.
Showmax announced on Tuesday, 3 November 2020, that it is currently in the filming phase of its upcoming reality show, Uthando Lodumo. Scheduled to premiere in early 2021, the series will star one of South Africa’s most well-known couples, Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha, who recently got engaged live on Gagasi FM. The pair’s relationship has been filled with ups and downs, which have been made public due to their celebrity status. This includes allegations of domestic violence, which they hope to address in the series.
Nomsa Philiso, MultiChoice Channel Director – Local Entertainment, stated, “Babes and Mampintsha’s relationship has not been a fairy tale romance. They’ve had serious issues as a couple, yet have chosen to remain together. The show focuses on how they have overcome their challenges, working through them with their families.” She went on to explain that neither Showmax nor the couple condone gender-based violence, and will use Uthando Lodumo as a platform to shed light on the injustices faced by many women in South Africa.
