Showmax has continued to promote its new original English and Afrikaans-medium drama series, Skemerdans, by introducing the cast of the series.
Showmax took to Twitter on Wednesday, 12 May 2021, to share an introduction to the cast of its newly released original drama series, Skemerdans. The drama series premiered on Wednesday, 28 April 2021, to favourable reviews.
In a statement on the Showmax website, the series was described as a “Cape Flats neo-noir murder mystery set at the Oasis Jazz Club, the centre of a power struggle between two brothers, a scorned widow and an organised crime syndicate.” The male leads are Kevin Smith, who plays Glenn Fortune, and Brendon Daniels, who plays Trevor Fortune. The two are the brothers who are involved in the power struggle. The scorned wife, Shireen Fortune, is played by Ilse Klink.
Shireen is described as “a fighter by nature, someone who has never had anything handed to her. Together, Shireen and her husband Glenn built the Oasis, a beacon on the Cape Town entertainment scene. For the best of two decades, it was the spot of choice for the who’s-who: from cultural icons to sports stars, businessmen to politicians, even seedy underworld bosses. The Oasis was the place to be and Shireen, as much as her husband, built it from the ground up.”
