Showmax has introduced two new pop-up channels to its offering, kykNET and Mzansi Magic, which will now be livestreamed until the end of March 2021.
Showmax issued a statement today, 18 January 2021, announcing the introduction of two new pop-up channels on the streaming site, namely, kykNET and Mzansi Magic. According to the streaming service, it is testing the livestreaming two of South Africa’s most popular local channels, in order to give viewers more options on how to view their content. The pop-up channels will be available until Wednesday, 31 March 2021, which is when the country is expected to be subjected to more relaxed COVID-19 lockdown regulations.
MultiChoice Group CEO for General Entertainment and Connected Video, Yolisa Phahle, stated, “We’re always looking at ways of making the Showmax experience better for our customers. During last year’s lockdown, we gave subscribers access to live news channels. Now, following this month’s presidential address, South Africans will continue to spend more time at home, and so, once again, we’d like to make sure our customers have something extra.”
