Showmax has confirmed the premiere of a locally produced film, Pearls of Wisdom, which features acclaimed actress, Linda Sokhulu, and Amina Jack in the lead roles.
Showmax took to Twitter on Monday, 7 June 2021, to confirm that the locally produced Pearls of Wisdom is set to premiere on the platform. The announcement was made as part of Showmax’s new content lineup for June, which also included Jafta Mamabolo’s Freedom.
According to an Instagram post from executive producer, Neo Sibiya, “We meet Nhlakanipho (15) a talented young girl with a big dream; to be a musical theatre actress. Nhlakanipho dreams of attending the Johannesburg School of the Arts where her passion and dreams will come true. As she comes full circle to perform on the very stage she auditioned on, will she find her voice, or has she lost it in the crowd? Will she remember that her relationship with her mother, that is the anchor that she needs to find her true voice and shine as love, new friends and popularity take centre stage.”
Pearls of Wisdom has been written as a coming-of-age story, with Nhlakanipho, played by Amina Jack of Isibaya fame, having to find her path while remembering her humble beginnings. The film also stars Linda Sokhulu and Lerato Mvelase. The film premiered on Showmax today, 14 June 2021.
