Wednesday night’s episode of Skeem Saam saw Kat feeling inadequate because of his financial standing in comparison to Candice, who has had access to money since birth.
The latest episode of SABC 1’s Skeem Saam, which aired on Wednesday, 8 April 2020, saw Kat realizing that his low bank balance could negatively affect his business. When discussing his worries with Candice, it was apparent that she was unable to relate to his concerns, due to her privileged background. The storyline sparked conversation on social media, with many highlighting that black South Africans often compare their wealth to other races, without crediting themselves enough for overcoming struggles imposed on them by previous generations.
Reratile Kekana stated, “”Candice was born rich, we always compare ourselves with people that have been pushed five steps ahead from the starting line.” Viewers also applauded the show for its relevant storyline, which appears to have resonated with many South Africans.

True that👌 I'm also glad that Kat saw his mistakes/shortsightedness that could have helped him to avoid this.
1. Declining to be part of the Nonyane deal.
2. Not saving money for future business opportunities.
Candice is also lucky because her dad is financially literate.
