When discussing his worries with Candice, it was apparent that she was unable to relate to his concerns, due to her privileged background. The storyline sparked conversation on social media, with many highlighting that black South Africans often compare their wealth to other races, without crediting themselves enough for overcoming struggles imposed on them by previous generations.
Reratile Kekana stated, “”Candice was born rich, we always compare ourselves with people that have been pushed five steps ahead from the starting line.” Viewers also applauded the show for its relevant storyline, which appears to have resonated with many South Africans.
