Award-winning producer and artist, DJ Slique, has received a nod from the 2018 South African Hip Hop Awards for his mixtape, Navy Black, which has been nominated in the Mixtape of the Year category. DJ Slique became an instant sensation when he released his debut album, ‘Injayam Vol. 1,’ in 2016, with ‘Navy Black’ being his follow-up project before he releases the sequel to his debut release. The musician noted that ‘Navy Black’ should be considered as the bridge between ‘Injayam Vol. 1’ and the upcoming ‘Injayam Vol. 2.’

Speaking to local media in an article published on Friday, 13 July 2018, DJ Slique opened up about how two of the features on the album came about.

“My feature highlight, Sy Ari, is someone I have always wanted to work with,” he said.“I have been a fan of his music and have all his mixtapes. I DM’d him on Twitter for Oh Well, and he was keen to work. Then I also hit up AKA after he was done with his album and we finished the track in one night at his house.”

The mixtape has received positive reviews from hip-hop lovers around the country.
