Speedy has returned to music with the release of his new single, Khumbula, featuring Nhlanhla Nciza, which is taken from his upcoming album, The Gift.
Speedy took to Instagram on Friday, 14 May 2021, to announce the release of his new single, Khumbula, featuring Nhlanhla Nciza. The single marks the first collaboration between the real-life friends and music veterans. Speedy gained popularity as part of Bongo Maffin, whilst Nciza rose to fame as part of Mafikizolo.
Moreover, the single marks Speedy’s first release since his 2020 single, Come Duze, featuring Professor. According to a statement issued on the day of release, “Khumbula sees the two musicians from legendary groups, Bongo Maffin and Mafikizolo, explore the thin line of amapiano with afro-pop elements.” Adding, “Khumbula deals with missing home, the yearning that comes with it, and longing for a return to one’s roots.”
The single is the first release from Speedy’s upcoming solo album, The Gift, whose release date has yet to be confirmed.
The single is available for purchase on Apple Music.
