Season two of Blood & Water seemingly concluded Puleng and Fikile’s mystery, which begs the question of what will happen if there’s a season three?
Blood & Water’s second season premiered on Netflix on Friday, 24 September 2021. The second season was the much-anticipated return of the first Netflix Africa original teen drama series fronted by Ama Qamata and Khosi Ngema. The first two seasons centred on the big question of whether Puleng Khumalo (Qamata) has found her abducted older sister, Phumelele Khumalo/Fikile Bhele (Ngema). The second season concludes this story during the fifth episode of the story, when Puleng’s suspicions are confirmed.
In light of the conclusion of the overarching storyline, which was the premise of the first two seasons, and with fans already calling for Netflix to renew the show, the question becomes what will the third season focus on. Currently, two main plots have been teased by the tail end of season two of Blood & Water. The first is exploring the child trafficking storyline which was teased and played as part of the backdrop of the multiple highly intense storylines of season two.
Secondly, it is also set to look into the family structure of one of Puleng’s love interests, KB, played by Thabang Molaba. During the first two seasons, viewers were introduced to KB’s father, Matla Molapo, played by Sello Maake Ka-Ncube. However, the second season teased further details about his mother, Lisbeth Molapo, played by Sonia Mbele, who is expected to be the villain if there is a third season.
