Survivor SA: Jacques reveals that he remained cordial with Steffi after their blowout

Thursday night’s episode of the South African version of the hit reality series, Survivor, saw fan-favourite, Jacques, being the latest castaway, after weeks of successfully dodging the votes.

The latest episode of M-Net’s Survivor SA, which aired on Thursday, 22 August 2019, saw Jacques finally being voted out after weeks of dodging the votes with hidden immunity idols and strategic game play. Following last week’s tumultuous episode, which saw Jacques being ostracised from the group because of his language, which some considered inappropriate, the tribe members deemed him the next to go and stopped at nothing to ensure that he had no other ammunition up his sleeve. In an attempt to save himself, Jacques continued to search for a hidden immunity idol, but was outplayed by unlikely opponent, Letitia. This left him with no security at tribal council, and led to him being the next castaway to join the jury.

Speaking to JustNje, Jacques revealed his feelings following his exit, stating, “I have mixed feelings. It’s been a total blast and a great adventure. Obviously seeing that moment with Letitia and the idol, and seeing how close I was…I really didn’t know it. People knew I knew the game and took note of it. I tried to downplay it but at the same time, I wanted to play the game and I wanted to have fun.”

When asked if there was anything in particular that was not shown in the episodes, Jacques commented on his relationship with Steffi, following their epic confrontation. Jacques stated, “I had a great relationship with Steffi actually. Every single morning before sunrise, she and I would wake up and walk on the beach. We had a relationship where she knew I was coming for her and I knew she was coming for me and despite entering the boxing ring, no matter what happened… we still had those moments on the beach where we disengaged from the game.”

Survivor SA airs on Thursdays at 19:00 on M-Net, DStv channel 101.
