Thursday night’s episode of Survivor SA saw Mmaba being the latest castaway, regrettably leaving with an immunity idol still in her possession.
The latest episode of M-Net’s Survivor SA, which aired on Thursday, 15 August 2019, saw Mmaba being completely blind-sided, leading her to exit the game without playing her immunity idol.
The episode saw Steffi and Mmaba being sent off to The Island Of Secrets, where they competed against one another for an advantage in the game. After winning the challenge, Mmaba decided to keep the immunity idol to herself and instead, tell the others that she received an advantage in the challenges. The unexpected advantage put a target on her back, leading her to be the next to be voted out in last night’s tribal council.
Speaking to JustNje, Mmaba stated, “I’m so disappointed with myself. More so because I had a feeling. I knew something like this was going to happen. I contemplated so many times whether or not to play my idol. Even at tribal council, whilst everything was going on, in my head I was thinking… what do I do? [For] not having played it, after my gut telling me to play it, has literally been the biggest regret.”
When asked about the drama which ensued between Jacques and the rest of the tribe, Mmaba stated, “I do think it was blown out of proportion, but at the same time, it’s been 32 days and anything would set you off. If it was the real world, I’m pretty sure that’s not how we would have reacted.”
Known as someone whose strategic game overpowered her physical abilities, Mmaba discussed the jury’s view on what is vital for being the ultimate Survivor.
She stated, “The jury member looks beyond just your physical strength, what else are you bringing to the game? It’s one thing to win challenges, but do you have people’s buy-in? Do you have alliances and are people actually backing you?”.
Survivor SA airs on Thursdays at 19:00 on M-Net, DStv channel 101.
